Instructions for Correlation Estimation for Scatterplots
- Learn Mode
This program allows to user to view many different scatterplots and the
corresponding correlation coeficients. Clicking on the "Generate" button
will cause the program to generate a new set of paired data values. The
data pairs are displayed in a scatterplot and the correlation coeficient
is given in a text box. The "Exit" button will return to the main selection
screen.
- Test Mode
This program works like the Learn Mode except that the user is required
to click on an estimated correlation before the actual correlation is
presented. The selected button will turn yellow and the correct button will
turn red if the estimated correlation coeficient is incorrect. The selected
button will turn green if it is correct.
The program will keep track of the number of correct estimates in a row the student
has made without making an error. A second box indicates the maximum
number of correct in a row.
My students are required to acheive eight in a row before they receive
maximum credit for this assignment.
